Don’t Move To Asheville, They’re Full. Move To Weaverville, Hendersonville, Black Mountain, or Waynesville

Whether you want to accept it or not, Asheville is full! I mean there are some folks moving in and others moving out; some builders finding a piece of land here or there, but housing inventory in Asheville is pretty slim. So what do you do? You can wait for the City of Asheville and outside Developers to come in the next few years to build a better infrastructure, or you can head to the suburbs. There are many small communities right outside of the city such as Woodfin NC which is just 10 minutes north of downtown, or minutes south to Arden NC which is right near the Asheville airport, or east to Swannanoa which the locals call “Swanna-Nowhere” but it’s now growing by leaps and bounds, and also Candler which is just west of Asheville and a wonderful community to live in. I should know. I was born and raised there. But these places are not the major towns just outside of Asheville, that I want to introduce you to. Here they are…

Weaverville North Carolina

The Town of Weaverville North Carolina has a lot to offer and it’s just north of Asheville. See below for more info:

  1. Restaurants
  2. Shops
  3. Breweries

Hendersonville North Carolina

The Town of Hendersonville North Carolina used to be just for retirees, but now everyone is flocking there! Here’s some great spots in the area:

  1. Restaurants
  2. Shops
  3. Breweries & Distilleries

Black Mountain North Carolina

The Town of Black Mountain NC is the gateway to the mountains of Buncombe County when coming from the eastern part of the state. This small town is just east of Asheville and they have so much to offer, including the nature-filled small college Town of Montreat North Carolina nearby.

  1. Restaurants
  2. Shops
  3. Breweries

Waynesville North Carolina

The Town of Waynesville North Carolina is beautiful and it has so many little sub-communities around it such as Lake Junaluska, Maggie Valley. Clyde, and Sylva. Here are a few stops to make when you are out that way:

  1. Restaurants
  2. Shops
  3. Breweries

Of course there are plenty of other things to do in these communities, from hiking to biking, the great outdoors, wine, art, and so much more! The moral of the story is this… Until Asheville gets their infrastructure together, you would be much better off moving to the outskirts, out of the city and into the county, or even the next county over. You would still have access to Asheville, if you really want it; but you will also find that each one of these small towns… Weaverville, Hendersonville, Black Mountain, and Waynesville, have their own little vibe with so much quality of life to offer.
